Information You Enter
Search Queries
When a name, location, or other search term is typed into a search tool, that query may be sent to the third-party provider that powers the tool. Custer County Inmate Population does not keep its own separate log of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If you email us or send a contact message, we use the information in that message to read it, respond, and keep any needed record of the request. We do not share those messages outside the organization unless a valid legal requirement applies.
Automatic Technical Data
Like most websites, this site may receive routine technical information when a page loads. That data helps diagnose errors, understand traffic, and keep pages usable.
- IP address.
- Browser name and version.
- Device type and operating system.
- Pages viewed and approximate time spent on them.
- Referring website, when one is passed to us.
- Date and time stamps.
Cookies
Cookies and similar tools may be used to understand how visitors use the site and to support advertising or analytics. Browser settings can block or delete cookies, but some features may work differently when cookies are disabled.
How Data Is Used
- Keep the Custer County pages available, stable, and reasonably fast.
- Route search requests to the correct partner service when a partner tool is used.
- Learn which jail, court, IDOC, VINELink, BOP, and ICE pages are most useful to visitors.
- Find broken links, errors, security issues, and other technical problems.
- Display ads that may be based on general interests or browsing context.
Outside Websites
This site links to sheriff, jail, court, corrections, VINELink, federal, immigration, public-record, and third-party search resources. Once you leave this site, the privacy policy and data practices of the outside website control that visit.
Advertising partners may also use their own systems to measure ad views or tailor ads across different websites. That tracking occurs through their platforms, not through an official Custer County system.
Who May Receive Data
We do not sell personal information. Some data may still be handled by limited outside parties that help run, measure, advertise, or legally protect the site.
- Search partners that process queries submitted through their tools.
- Analytics services that help measure site use and performance.
- Advertising networks that serve or measure ads.
- Law-enforcement agencies, courts, or government bodies when a valid legal order requires disclosure.
Security Practices
Reasonable security practices are used to protect information handled by the site. No internet-connected service can be guaranteed breach-proof, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access, loss, or misuse will never occur.
Users Under 18
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If a minor submitted information, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
Your Data Rights
- Ask for a copy of personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction of information that is wrong.
- Ask us to delete information where deletion is legally and technically available.
- Opt out of certain uses of information where the law gives that right.
